Solea™ Lasers

Did you know that lasers now have a use in various cosmetic dental practices and medical procedures? Solea lasers offer a revolutionary way to perform procedures that don’t require anesthesia to quell the pain.

What are Solea Lasers?

These are carbon dioxide (CO2) lasers, guided by a computer and your dentist to provide exceptional care in less time. Solea lasers provide near blood-free, stitch-free, and discomfort-free care with their powerful yet invasive laser beam with cauterizing abilities.
This all-tissue laser works well on skin, dentin, enamel, and bone. Focusing the intense light energy, which harnesses a 9.3-micron wavelength on localized tissue, can remove and reshape tissue at will.

Is it Safe for All Ages?

This treatment solution that the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) supports is incredibly safe. 95% of patients treated didn’t complain of pain, despite not being under the effects of anesthesia. Using these can go a long way towards curing dentophobia.
Not only are these CO2 lasers painless, but they can also be used during surgeries for all ages. Even our youngest patients seldomly need anesthesia, allowing for multiple operations to be completed during one visit.

What Do Solea Lasers Treat?

While these lasers are exceedingly valuable in removing excess tissue, plaque, and bacteria, this is by no means a replacement for brushing and flossing. Here are a few things that lasers can be used for:
  • Cavities
  • Aphthous ulcers
  • Dental implant restoration
  • Fibroma removal
  • Crown lengthening

Frenectomies

Your frenum is the part of your mouth that controls tongue movement. One of its main jobs is ensuring that your tongue doesn’t over-extend. Solea lasers are fantastic for easing symptoms of malfunctioning frenums.
Lasers soften muscles, which decreases tension, which is almost always the source of pain. Unlike manual surgery, lasers do not affect the surrounding soft tissues, which scalpels often do. CO2 lasers dramatically reduce recovery time, not just frenectomies but all its surgical applications.

Gingivitis Removal

While it works wonders for removing gunk, it isn’t suited for replacing standard cleaning. Dentists can utilize the localized beam of energy to access bacteria pockets beneath gums instead of the old ways, which could cause pain.
Before lasers, dentists would scrape away plaque and tarter with various sharp instruments, which could cause inadvertent trauma. With solea, each relaxed and can barely feel what’s going on beneath the gums.

Long-term Benefits

Coronavirus has taught us just how easily germs can spread, and dentist offices are no exceptions. Solea drastically cuts down on germs that are transferred by drills and water. Drills are often powered by air pressure that uses water, and liquids such as H2O can transmit viruses such as herpes, COVID-19, etc.
